Canadian companies that own and operate all types of Canadian-flagged vessels, are SLS’ lifeblood. The fleet SLS represents more than 130 vessels, which, every year, transport approximately 30 million metric tonnes of diverse types of cargo and ferry some 5 million passengers from shore to shore.
Canadian-registered ships must be operated by highly qualified Canadian crews. SLS member companies are employers of choice, making a significant contribution to the Canadian economy.
Active primarily on the St. Lawrence and Great Lakes, SLS members also serve the Lower North Shore, Northern Québec, the Canadian Arctic, Newfoundland, the Magdalen Islands, the Maritime provinces, Anticosti Island and foreign ports.
Versatile and flexible, they offer many services covering the entire logistics chain, giving domestic shippers a vast choice of innovative solutions and direct access to local and international markets.
